BIOGRAPHY

Katie John serves as Michigan State University’s Vice President for State Relations, representing MSU with key stakeholders across state and federal government, including the executive branch, state legislature, Congress, and government agencies.

Katie brings more than 25 years of legislative and government relations experience, with a particular focus on higher education funding and policy. She previously served as MSU’s Associate Vice President for State Relations.

Before joining MSU, Katie served as Associate Vice President of Government Affairs at Western Michigan University, a role she held beginning in 2006. Earlier in her career, she held positions with the Michigan Senate Democratic Policy Office, Senate Democratic Communications staff, and the Office of Senate Minority Leader Bob Emerson.

Katie earned a B.A. from Michigan State University and an M.P.A. from Western Michigan University.
